Week 4
This week has been pretty uneventful, the kids have been preparing for a mid-term and have been doing a lot of reading. I am hoping that next week will have a little more excitement in it but i understand that the kids need to be prepared.

Week 3
Today i taught my first lesson in Mr. Romero's English class. It was a fun experience that was very nerve racking at first but became easier once the first student answered the question. I asked the students to elaborate on the saying, "smooth seas do not make skill-full sailors." Some of the answers were very good, pertaining to not doing things the easy way and I was impressed with the overall response from the class.

Week 2
English is a hard subject to make exciting, but Mr. Romero seems to be able to do that on a daily basis. This week, he had all of the students re-arrange the room so that everyone was sitting in a circle to read. He would stop the readers and choose someone else to read to make sure that everyone was following along. The consequence for not knowing where you were was a pop-quiz, so all the kids were follwing along and the day went very smooth.

Week one Teaching
I am doing my field experience at East High in Mr. Romero's 10th grade English and Writing class. So far I have just been observing the class and how he teaches, which has been very interesting. He is very energetic and grabs the attention of his class. The students aren't all at the top of the class, but he makes sure that all of them are paying attention and participating. His least favorite answer is "I don't know" and if that is your answer, he will make you give a better one, by giving the student a real life experience of why saying "I don't know" is not an acceptable answer. After that, most if not all give a better response. Its only been one week but already i have learned a lot.
